Day Ten: Monday, June 16, 2008

Day 10: Monday, June 16, 2008.
Kate Buys Her First Car.
Tiger Wins the US Open
Youth Steering Committee Meeting

Kate bought her first car and what a process it was. The morning started with Kate and Christine taking the truck out to Autocraft to have it worked on. We had a tight window so I went on line to see what the credit union rates might be and apparently for a used car the lowest rate would be 5.39%. In their senario if you borrowed $15,000 for 60 months the payments would be $285 a month. At least it was within out $300 pr month payment limit. We tried to talk to the live person on line to see about if a cosigner was needed and then we called on the phone but finally decided we needed to go to the credit union to ask questions. We had a mini-meltdown but all three of us probably headed out at about 10:30.
First we went back to Enterprise in search of the mythical 2.99% rate, but there really were no cars and the guy there was sleazy. We headed back to the credit union fully expecting that the best loan she could get might be around 8%. Things looked bleak. We were back at the bottom of the emotional rollercoaster. And then God provided us with Angela. She was a God send and walked us through the whole loan process with much love and personal care.
We went back to Carmax and Kate picked out a red 2007 Ford Focus abnd we went out for a test drive. The total was about $17,000 total with EVERYTHING.
We went back home to work on the dinner and watched the end of the golf tournament and Kate finished up the car buying.
Tiger won in an amazing playoff against Rocco Mediate.

The steering committee meetingwent well. The Petersons, the Petersens, the Auslands, and the Jordans all were there. It really wasd a blessing to get them all togethere and share our hearts.
