Day Sixty One: Wednesday, August 6, 2008
San Diego: Day Three
Get to leave early
Ten Hour Drive forn San Diego to Fair Oaks

Slept pretty well. Only got up twice I think. Today I have the morning off and do not teach until 1:15. They are trying to expose all the students to a number of topics and so they have it split up this way. The big question is whether or not they will want me to teach the morning session on Thursday and when I will actually leave. Will it make any sense to leave here at 4? Just how long will it take to drive through LA?
Well at the opening at 8:30 Howard announced that there would be an advisers session at 9 so there went that time off. It actually went pretty well. Whitney previewed the new portal and I shared a few new things like what I do for grading and deadlines. It went up almost to 11:30. In taking to Courtney she said that I could go ahead and go at 3:15. Yippee. So I packed all my stuff and loaded in the car so I could literally jump in the car and drive off into the sunset, well really north actually. Didn't really eat any lunch and when I walked over to my room SS 2512 I stopped at the bookstore and say that they had Reefs on sale at $40 off. For some reason I just couldn't pull the trigger. I got to the room at 1 and the class started at 1:15. The best part was that there was at least six of the advisers who came so that was a great vote of confidence. I'll bet there were about 20-25 total there. No where near the 60 that I thought there might be at one point. The session went really well. For some reason I didn't even get to the caption writing part. Guess it was a great relationship with this group. When I was done Courtney showed up and she tried to ask me to stay because Howard wanted me to do something on Thursday morning. I was so disappointed. But somehow we agreed that could go. I went back at bought the Reefs that were on sale eventhough they had brought the sidewalk sale stuff back into the store. As i walked back, I decided I needed to sneak through the quad are just a bit so I wouldn't run into Howard or any one. Somehow I got out and stopped at the corner gas station and then headed out at about 3:35.

What an experience it was. I took the 8 west and thn the 805 and finally the 405 which I took all the way through LA. There was traffic and clear sailing, but it wasn't quick. From Irvine to Long Beach it was 30 miles per hour the whole way.
Finally I broke free after downtown LA and then I flew the rest of the way. I only stopped for gas and Wendy's in Madera and made it home at just about 10:30.
