Day Sixty Seven: Tuesday, August 12, 2008
Reno: Day 2
End of Workshop Six

Left the hotel at 8:30 and followed Natasha, Howard, Whitney, and Adam back to Manogue. I was up at six and spent most of the time watching the Today show and the Olympics coverage.
At nine we had a little opening time with me and Howard and then sent them to individual rooms to finalize their themes before they meet with the cover artists online. The online artist appointments began a little before 10 and were really pretty amazing. Three artists working with three groups simultaneously projected so each staff could watch and they could talk to the artist via a conference call. It all went well except Manogue had the superior theme by far-Intelligent Design. They had a great 6o0th anniversary graphic and a beautiful colored smoke effect. Carson started with "Blame It on the Limelight" which morphed into "Limelight" both of which had nothing to do with their school or 2009. McQueen was working on "Unexpected Accident" or something like that which didn't make much sense to me. But they didn't seem very interested in suggestions. In the 11 -12 hour I went back with Howard to help Carson and then worked with Manogue and Adam and I worked with them on a great graphic idea incorporating the smoke into the picture on the divider. Adam figures it on the fly and it turned out to be amazing.
At noon we had pizza again for lunch and then they went back and worked on their presentations until two when they were due.
In the middle of that hour it turned out the what they were going to pay me controversy surfaced. Apparently natasha had asked Carol to cut a new check and she refused but wound up happening was that Whitney would up getting cash out of her bank account. I only realized this when I went to cash the check once I got home.
The presentations went well. Howard gave the "Is it Worth a Tree?" speech and I was on the road a little before three. All-in-all I think everyone was happy how it went and they want to do it again next year. We shall see.
I flew down and was back in Sacramento by a little after five. I stopped at the bank and deposited all y checks. Not a bad summer.
Once home Christine and I went to Midori for sushi and then we;ve been watching The Closer and the Olympics.
