Day Thirty Five: Friday, July 11, 2008
Davis: Day 3
AT 7 a.m. the WW folks had a breakfast in the dinning commons right next to Emerson. The food was terrible but it was fun. We played "two truths and a lie" and found out that Steve the guy from Montgomery had been a stripper. We also got a cool laser pointer pen things which we all immediately shined on Howard.
At the moment 10:18 Crystal and I are sitting outside Fluffy Donuts for leakage. I also just sent all my handouts to Mike.
We went back, packed up and had lunch by 1. The presentations turned out to be at Wellman and they were supposed to start at 2. Crystal and I checked out and drove all over the place looking for closer parking and eventually parked in a lot where we were supposed to pay, but we didn't.
Becca and I judged and commented on the small schools. There were 12. And Crystal and the refresh guy did the five large schools. It all went well and took over an hour although I'm not exactly sure when we started. Our winners were 1. Saratoga; 2. Piner; 3. St. Mary's. Two girls from St. Mary's were especially great because you could see very specifically what they had learned in Crystal's class. I love that. When they actually use what they have learned.
Ftom there we walked to a large lecure hall in Social Science for the closing. When we got there Sam was running some kind of a ransom spirit contest that the kids were loving. Then we had the slide show and the final awards. Benecia took the top prize in the large school division with Windsor in second and Montgomery in third. I think we were done by 5:45.
I drove Crystal straight to the airport and then headed home. Zoe had two water polo games right at Davis but it just didn't work out for me to get over there.
