Day Thirty Nine: Tuesday, July 15, 2008
GYE Day 3
Last Theme Group
Ice Cream at the Lincoln Dinner

Slept in a bit so I could work on my session and not be rushed. Went to breakfast at 7 and beat the crowd. Was back in the room by 7:30ish to put the final touches on my presentation. I literally got to the room first and then they had trouble with the sound system, but the projector worked great. Got a ten minute late start, but it all went very well I thought. I am sure this was the biggest crowd I have ever spoken before. There were well over 300 I am sure.
Morning class session started at 9:45 and I did the Siblings icebreaker. Then we spent most of the time working on the ladders. Some worked well while others fiddled around. Mark Kay's kids worked great but I think Gary's are in a bit of trouble.
At lunch we were going to go the the Gettysburg Battlefield Visitors Center so Mitch could see it, but me missed connecting with Lynne and Sandy. So we went to the bookstore and I bought some hats and then back to the dorm and took a quick nap.
Afternoon class was crazy. I taught captions and it felt like I was dying, but we pushed on and made it through. I even offered to let them work, but they wanted me to talk about design so I did my design principles session.

Scott from McLean after he fell off his chair.

The girls from Lake Braddock.

Erin eating Nathan's Gummi hot dogs.

With about 40 minutes left I offered to let them work, but they wanted to see what I had so I took them through my basic design show. And it all worked out.
Next was dinner then theme group at 6:30. I worked with Lynne again and we felt pretty good about where we had taken every one. By 8:45 we were done! We are over the hump.

Megan from Oakton.

The Chantilly girls and their 2009 theme packet.

After theme group I walked back to the room with Lynne and Sandy and then I hung out in the room with Mitch, Paul and Chuck. Dave came back and Brenda, Mitch, Andy, and I went with him to the Lincoln diner for ice cream. Then we drove up to the peace memorial to see if the light was still lit and it was. We even walked around behind it.
